COVID-19: Letter from Ian & Jenny

Dear Thrive Community,

UPDATE March 31st, 2020:

This letter reviews how we are handling autopay memberships, classpacks, and trial passes during the state required shutdown.

As you know, these are unprecedented times for everyone. It is very challenging for us, especially as a local small business that relies on a steady community of clients and membership dues to keep operations going each month.

Our intention is to provide our active members as much value as we can online in coming weeks, so that you can keep moving your body every day with live video classes, or recorded classes in the archive. Stay tuned on our home page for the live and archived virtual yoga and fitness classes!

AUTOPAY MEMBERS - At this time, all autopay payments remain scheduled as normal, and we ask that you let us know as soon as possible about Option 1 or Option 2 with your membership. Please reply to us here .

Autopay Option 1... Loyalty Package
Support the studio by maintaining your regular membership payments. We will reward you with red carpet loyalty perks for the rest of the year, which will far exceed the value of option 2.

  • Unlimited access to all virtual online yoga classes, fitness classes, meditations, special events during the shutdown.

  • 30% off product discounts, up to 2 retail items each month for rest of year.

  • Special Guest Passes each month for the rest of the year, that can be used by any guest, not just new students only as usual. Unlimited Autopay Members (ie paying ~$99/mo) will get 4 Special Guest Passes each month. Limited Autopay Members (ie paying $59/mo for 5 classes) get 2 Special Guest Passes each month.

  • Special classes/events free and only for loyalty members, to be scheduled.

  • 1 year of free online yoga video access once the video program is organized and our doors open.

  • 20% off retreats, for yourself and +1, promo discount can be used anytime, not restricted to early bird specials.

  • We will tag your account as Loyalty Club and keep in communication on a separate thread about perks and benefits.

Autopay Option 2... Store Credit
As a monthly autopay member, if you prefer your payments are suspended to match the length of the shutdown, we will of course honor that! If your payment recently charged, we can credit the upcoming payment to make you whole on this situation. If you are doing virtual classes with us and getting value out of them, please consider making a donation at whatever level you can afford to support the ongoing costs at the studio, rent, teacher pay, etc.

CLASSPACK MEMBERS
We will extend the time on your package to account for the shut down period, please contact us when we re-open and we will adjust your time to match the length of the shutdown.

TRIAL MEMBERS - 2 Week Special and Groupon
We will extend the time on your package to account for the shut down period, please contact us when we re-open and we will adjust your time to match the length of the shutdown.

STAY CONNECTED
Please join our new Facebook group "Thrive Yogis Staying Connected". We will use this group to stay connected, inspired and healthy, and also post links to live or recorded yoga classes, guided meditations and more.

We love you all, and are wishing you health and peace of mind in these times!

Ian and Jenny

I know your inbox, smartphone, and television is full of COVID-19 related news, and I appreciate your patience as you listen to one more message.

This is an unprecedented time for all of us, and one that may define us in the days, weeks, and years to come. As a small business owner and a father, I feel the panic and anxiety as it bursts through the bandwidth. I know what there is to fear and to lose. Never has it been more clear that there are so many external things we can’t control.

But if I’ve learned one thing from practicing yoga for more than 20 years, it’s this: Just because something is out of our control does not mean everything is. We have things we can do. We have people we can count on and a mindset we can trust and a community that isn’t going away, even if we stay inside our homes for a while.

And this is why I’m writing to you today. To tell you that all is not lost and to tell you how we are going to Thrive in the days and weeks to come.

In the studio, we’ve already taken massive steps to ensure the safety of our members.

SURFACES

Our studios are already taking measures to keep common areas disinfected in between classes, in addition to our twice a day cleaning routine using hospital-grade disinfectant, and will continue to keep heightened attention on this.

AIR QUALITY

Next week we are installing powerful air purification equipment in both studios to help reduce the impact of germs. These air purifiers use naturally occuring hydrogen peroxide ions to zap bacteria and viruses around the clock in every square inch of the yoga room, lobby, changing rooms and hallways. This equipment is used hospitals, cruise ships, etc, and it’s proven to kill 99% of germs from a sneeze in the air before the sneeze reaches 3’ from the body.

Class sizes

Class sizes will be limited to 25 people to allow for plenty of space around each yoga in the room. We encourage you to sign up for class online here. You need to be at class 10 minutes before the class starts to hold your spot if you have pre-registered.

SHARED MATS & PROPS

We are phasing out shared rental mats and shared props to limit shared contact. New mats will be provided for sale

As you know, our yoga studio is a Michigan small, family-owned business.

We have provided healthy valuable services to our yoga family since 2007.

We intend to be around for many years to come—and to continue to provide exceptional service and benefits even (and especially) in times of crisis. Many of you have attested to the power of yoga and how coming to this studio has changed and even saved your life. It’s because of that that we will remain open and remain dedicated to helping you create ways to thrive—even (again, especially) in the midst of uncertainty, fear, and panic.

We have received a few emails regarding memberships, and I assure you that we are listening. This is an unprecedented event, and we will address it with the same thoughtful, compassionate approach we have done in every financial and social crisis. Please be patient with us as we come up with a plan that ensures we’re able to meet your needs for the long haul as well as the immediate future.

In the meantime, we are committed to meet the needs of our members and our community in any way we can.

We are preparing to provide streamed video classes with your beloved instructors, which can be accessed either live or recorded, providing an option to do yoga from home if you are unable or unwilling to leave the house. More info will be sent in an email and on a dedicated portion of our website.

We are doing this because we firmly believe that a consistent, connected yoga practice will help you stay healthy, stay grounded, and stay the course. Our community is too strong to be separated by walls, neighborhoods, or a virus—and we will do everything we can do help you thrive—together—in the days to come. Thank you for continuing to being an important part of it.

I promise to keep you updated in the coming days. We’ll be updating our website as needed as well as adding to our community on Facebook and sending emails to keep you in the loop and on the path to health

Thank you for being part of our Thrive family.

Ian and Jenny
